Adam Neilson

Adam Neilson Vancouver

In his early years, Adam was interested in golf course architecture and pursued it via an education in landscape architecture. Lacking enthusiasm soon into that professional venture, he shifted to graphic design and digital communications, where he cut his entrepreneurial teeth. In 2001 he co-founded design studio Burnkit and helped build it into a 15-person, $1.5 million/yr digital communications agency with Sony PlayStation, Future Shop and Kodak as clients.

In 2009, after leaving Burnkit, he gained North American distribution rights for a modern Danish-made high chair and built an e-commerce business around that product. That business now mostly runs on its own.

From 2009–2010 he worked as a digital producer for the National Film Board of Canada, where he produced award-winning web documentary content. He was awarded two Webby awards for his work on a project called Welcome to Pine Point.

Adam and his wife Sarah have four kids under the age of eight, and are thinking of having another one soon.

Things he's particularly fond of: truth, space and how we use it, plants, soil, alone time, silence, his family, hops and hockey.
