Rethink CD nominated for Grammy

A CD case for Splitting Adam designed by Rethink partner Jeff Harrison is one of five nominees for a Best Recording Package Grammy.

“The concept for the cover of Splitting Adam’s self-titled CD is built around the band’s fictitious character, Adam, and his struggle with an audio-triggered bipolar disorder,” said Harrison. The cover splits Adam to reveal an animated 3D hologram that morphs from a passive lamb into an aggressive ape, illustrating Adam’s internal struggle. The CD and insert artwork document Adam’s mental state and include vital stats and final prognosis.

The photo of Adam is a composite of the photos of all five band members. Each band member needed to be shot in rotation to produce the smooth transition from lamb to gorilla in the 3D image sequence built for the hologram. The packaging die-line is a custom design and the hologram was manufactured in Russia. See the complete package by clicking here. For a video of the hologram, click here.

Based in Vancouver, Splitting Adam was formed over a decade. They solidified their current lineup in 2005.
