Coast Capital Savings Ambient: Free Stuff Vending Machine

A vending machine filled with ridiculous free items was placed around the city. Hundreds of people, including several reporters, lined up to get a free doll’s head, a single sock, and assorted screws, among other things. Each item came with a note that said, “If you like free stuff, you’re going to love free chequing.”

Coast Capital Savings (CCS), formerly known as Richmond Savings, merged with Surrey Metro Savings in June 2001 to become Canada's second-largest credit union. CCS is owned by its 475,000-plus members and boasts over 50 branches throughout Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island.
